A new study suggests that films that focus on mental health tend to get better reviews and tend to earn more at the box office. The study, which argues that the formula for box office success is focusing on mental health, was conducted with the participation of researchers from Stanford University, Yale University and the University of Connecticut. According to the research published in medRxiv, they examined 2043 films that were released between 1977 and 2019, which included mental health stories in their script, and found that such films achieved above-average box office success for at least 34 years of this period.
